The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), with the assistance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, detained a cadet from a leading military institute of our country who turned out to be an FSB agent.
Under the Russia’s orders, the suspect was supposed to help coordinate a missile strike on the training facility where he studied.
To accomplish this task, the suspect marked on maps the coordinates of the academic buildings, training grounds, and dormitories of the institute, as well as the production facilities of Ukraine’s military-industrial complex where cadet field exercises were held.
Additionally, while at these locations, the agent secretly took photos of the sites with reference points to the surroundings.
The suspect also prepared "reports" to send to his FSB handler, which included even the schedules of cadet presence at various locations.
Cyber specialists of the SSU uncovered the Russian agent, documented his work for the Russian Federation, and detained him on the university premises.
According to the investigation, the suspect came under FSB scrutiny when he was searching for "easy earnings" on Telegram channels.
However, instead of money from the Russians, the agent received suspicion charges from the SSU investigators under Part 2, Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed during martial law).
The offender is held in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
