Counterintelligence agents of the Security Service of Ukraine have apprehended another informant of the Russian Federal Security Service , who was collecting intelligence on the front-line territory of Donetsk region.

The perpetrator, an attorney from Kramatorsk, resided in the Russian Federation between 2019 and 2022 and had contacts with the aggressor country's intelligence agency.

Upon returning to Kramatorsk before Russia's full-scale invasion, he received his first assignment from his FSB "handler" during the spring of this year.

Under the guidance of the Russian intelligence agency, the suspect tracked the locations of temporary deployment and movement routes of Ukrainian Defense Forces in the front-line city.

The primary interest of the occupiers was the precise coordinates of Ukrainian checkpoints and an approximate count of military personnel present there, along with their armaments and military equipment.

The acquired information was relayed to the FSB through an anonymous chat on a messaging app, where he provided geolocations of Ukrainian military objects and their "characteristics."

For each completed task, the Russian intelligence agency paid their informant a monetary "reward," which was deposited into the perpetrator's bank card. In the future, the occupiers promised to "evacuate" him to Russia.

However, SSU operatives thwarted the implementation of the hostile "plans" and apprehended the enemy collaborator. During the search, two mobile phones, bank cards, and "disposable" SIM cards, registered for communication with the FSB.

Based on the collected evidence, Security Service investigators informed the detainee of the suspicion under Article 111-1, Part 7 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaboration activity). Currently, he is under arrest, and an investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The perpetrator faces up to 15 years in prison.
