The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has completed counter-intelligence measures at the facilities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church belonging to the Moscow Patriarchate, in the Kharkiv region.
On the diocese territory, libraries with pro-Kremlin literature, materials praising the aggressor country, and a large amount of cash in various currencies, including Russian rubles, were found.
One of the churches even kept dry rations of the Russian occupation groups. A monk with a Russian passport was also exposed there.
Currently, law enforcement officers are checking his possible involvement in intelligence and subversive activities of the special services of the aggressor country.
All seized materials have been sent for examination for further procedural actions.
We emphasize that the SSU adheres to the principle of impartiality towards any religious denomination's activities and respects every citizen's right to freedom of worldview and religion, as defined by the Constitution of Ukraine.
Security measures were carried out by the SSU of the Kharkiv region together with the National Guard and the State Border Service.
