"It is called the longest because no sporting race has lasted as long as Ukraine has been fighting for its freedom. We want to thank and support our defenders, doctors, rescuers and volunteers - all the strong and resilient marathoners who do not stop for a single moment for the sake of every one of us."
The "The World's Longest Marathon" in support of everyone who has been defending Ukraine for over nine years has been announced by Nova Poshta and the "Come Back Alive" foundation. Each participant will be able to run any distance on October 29 and dedicate their medal to a soldier or doctor. Instead of registration fees, they suggest donating to the "Pack the Sky - Upgrade the PPO" fund.
Participants will receive a race number on which they should indicate the name of the person they are dedicating their run to. The marathon can be completed in Kyiv or anywhere on the planet.
"The World's Longest Marathon" is a way to unite people from all over the world to express gratitude and support for those who are bringing Ukraine closer to victory," says Inna Popereshnyuk, co-founder of "Nova Poshta."
The number of starter packs is limited, and the first 10,000 participants will receive them. "Nova Poshta" will deliver the packs at their own expense to participants in Ukraine and around the world. Participants running in Kyiv will receive their packs one day before the race at VDNG, where "The World's Longest Marathon" will take place.
