The militarized Houthi group operating in Yemen has warned that it will attack all ships heading to Israel, as reported by Reuters.
Amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinian militants, particularly Hamas, which is linked to Iran, the Yemeni Houthi group's actions are increasing the risks of a regional conflict.
The Houthis have cautioned all international shipping companies against cooperating with Israeli ports and warned that they will attack all ships heading there, regardless of their nationality.
"If the Gaza Strip does not receive the food and medicine it needs, all ships in the Red Sea heading to Israeli ports, regardless of their nationality, will be a target for our armed forces," stated a representative of the Houthis.
He also added that this warning has an immediate effect.
Israel has declared that attacks on ships constitute an "Iranian terrorist act" with implications for international maritime security.
It's worth noting that the Houthi rebels in Yemen are one of several groups associated with Iran in the so-called "Axis of Resistance," which carries out attacks on Israeli and U.S. targets.
