The youngest chess grandmaster in the world is Ukrainian!

By the decision of the third FIDE Council, the title of Grandmaster has been awarded to 14-year-old Kyivan Ihor Samunenkov.

American Abhimanyu Mishra (05.02.2009), who became a Grandmaster at the age of 12 years, 4 months, and 25 days, is older than the Ukrainian (15.06.2009) by four months, so he now concedes the title.

It's worth noting that in 2002, Ukrainian Ruslan Ponomariov became the youngest World Chess Champion in history, securing the title at the age of 16. We await new records!
