On Friday, September 1st, two ships that had been blocked due to the war departed from the Yuzhny port in the Odessa region. They are heading towards the Bosphorus through a temporary corridor. This information was provided by the Ministry of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure of Ukraine
The bulk carriers ANNA-THERESA (Liberia flag) and OCEAN COURTESY (Marshall Islands) left Yuzhniy and moved along the established corridor towards the Bosphorus. 56,000 tons of pig iron and 172,000 tons of iron ore are on board.
A Singapore shipping company operates both bulk carriers. Both of them were in Yuzhniy prior to the full-scale invasion. Bulk carrier ANNA-THERESA has been in port since February 22 2022, and OCEAN COURTESY since February 16 2022.
The corridor established by the navigation mandate of the Ukrainian Navy was primarily used to evacuate ships in the Ukrainian ports of Chornomorsk, Odessa, and Yuzhniy at the time of the full-scale invasion of the russian federation. Since August 15, four ships have already used the temporary corridor.
The container ship JOSEPH SCHULTE and the bulk carrier PRIMUS were the first to pass this way on August 16 and 27.
