The purchase of Ukrainian agricultural products will be carried out under the #GrainFromUkraine Programme initiated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and presented at the G20 Summit. It is implemented in partnership with the UN World Food Programme (WFP).
The purchased amounts of food will be shipped through the âgrain corridorâ from the ports of Greater Odesa.
âThe United States of America became the first country to officially allocate funds for the purchase of Ukrainian grain under the Grain from Ukraine Programme. We are confident that other countries will also officially join the Program.
By late spring of next year, with our joint efforts, we will be able to provide grain to at least 5 million people in the countries of Africa and Asia that are on the brink of starvation.
I am grateful to the U.S. partners for the support of the Program and readiness to start its implementation in practice. The promptness of such decisions is extremely necessary, because the russian aggression has put at least 70 million people around the world at risk of starvation,â commented Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.
The humanitarian program #GrainFromUkraine provides for direct purchases of Ukrainian export grain by the Program participants and its transfer to poorer countries in Africa and Asia. The Programme is coordinated by the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak.
This project is implemented jointly with the UN World Food Programme.
To remind, within the framework of #GrainFromUkraine Programme, the first vessel with 27 thousand tonnes of wheat for Ethiopia has already been sent through the âgrain corridorâ. This shipment was organized jointly by the Government of Germany and the WFP.
