The reconstruction of the international automobile border crossing point Luzhanka-Beregsurany begins on the border with Hungary.
This was reported by the State Agency for Reconstruction and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine.
"At the 'Luzhanka' crossing point in Zakarpattia, we plan to reconstruct the access road, create a pedestrian zone, add additional inspection posts for various types of vehicles, and install two WIM systems for truck weighing – at the entrance and exit," the statement says.
It is noted that the project is funded by a European Union grant and a loan from the European Investment Bank, with a total budget of 11.6 million euros. Half of this amount is provided by the EU as a grant, while the other half is a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB).
The work will continue until the end of 2026, and by the end of November this year, the Reconstruction Service in Zakarpattia plans to start the procurement procedures for works and services.
The Luzhanka-Beregsurany crossing point is of strategic importance for transport connections between the two countries – it is located on the international M-24 highway, which is part of the Mediterranean transport corridor TEN-T.
