Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that Ukraine and the U.S. continue to maintain an intensive dialogue in the defense sector.
He said that today, a substantive and meaningful meeting was held in Kyiv with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Ukraine Julie Davis, U.S. Defense Attaché Brigadier General Brad Nicholson, and Lieutenant General Curtis Buzzard, Commander of SAG-U and NSATU.
"I thanked the United States, President Trump, and Congress for the extraordinary level of support — particularly for the announcement of Patriot systems and long-range weapon transfers. This is vital for protecting our people from daily Russian shelling," Shmyhal emphasized.
The parties discussed the implementation status of defense support agreements and the development of bilateral cooperation, including joint drone production. Shmyhal noted that new important projects are in preparation.
“We summarized the outcomes of the latest Ramstein-format meeting and expressed gratitude for the participation of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. It’s important to hold the next meeting in person as soon as possible,” Shmyhal added.
He also mentioned that the Ministry of Defense is working in close coordination with American partners.
"Achieving lasting peace through strength remains our goal. And we are convinced that this is possible under U.S. leadership," Shmyhal emphasized.
