On March 1st, Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh won the silver medal in the women's high jump at the World Indoor Athletics Championships.
In Glasgow, Yaroslava Mahuchikh began her competition at a height of 1.92 meters and cleared it on her first attempt. The Ukrainian continued her successful performance with a clearance at 1.95 meters. This height was also cleared by Nicola McDermott from Australia, Lia Apostolovski from Slovenia, and Christina Honsel from Germany.
Mahuchikh took the lead when she cleared the bar at 1.97 meters on her first attempt, while McDermott, Apostolovski, and Honsel failed to do so. McDermott managed to clear the height on her second attempt, while Apostolovski moved it to 1.99 meters. However, after Honsel exited the competition for the medals, she settled for bronze.
The gold medal battle unfolded at 1.99 meters between McDermott and Mahuchikh. McDermott succeeded in clearing the height on her third attempt. Unfortunately, Maguchikh was unable to do so and received the silver medal. The title of World Indoor Champion was claimed by Nicola McDermott.
Another Ukrainian athlete, Yuliya Levchenko, finished ninth with a result of 1.84 meters.
