Yesterday, from the Central Railway Station of Kyiv, Ukrainian veterans and warriors departed for competitions in the United States.
A team of 30 Ukrainian heroes embarked on a train journey to participate in the United States Air Force and Marine Corps Trials 2024. They will compete in nine adaptive sports disciplines: archery, track and field, cycling, powerlifting, rowing, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair rugby.
One of the team members is veteran-railroader Dmytro Polovyan. He will serve as an assistant swimming coach at the competitions.
Dmytro Polovyan served as a special forces reconnaissance soldier, suffered severe injuries, and endured captivity. Now he has returned to work on the railway and represents Ukraine in international competitions.
We wish our athletes success in their performances and are already preparing to welcome them back.
Recall that from March 4 to March 16, 2024, representatives of Ukraine will participate in the sports competitions of the United States Air Force.
The Ukrainian team will participate for the first time in games for American veterans. The organizers of the United States Air Force competitions invited the Ukrainian team to join the selection process and demonstrate the impact of adaptive sports on the recovery of veterans and military personnel after injuries.
