"Ukrzaliznytsia" is in negotiations with South Korea and Japan regarding the modernization of Intercity trains.
According to the Director of International Affairs at "Ukrzaliznytsia," Oleksandra Vasylenko, they are considering the upgrade of the Intercity train fleet. They are actively discussing this with representatives from South Korea, as they have already received attractive proposals and even have some samples. However, she emphasized that these negotiations are ongoing, and they aim for maximum transparency and competitiveness of the proposals. Therefore, she cannot definitively say that it will only involve South Korea.
Furthermore, proposals from the Japanese side are also under consideration. Japan, in particular, possesses significant high-speed rail technology.
Vasylenko highlighted that there is cooperation with Ukrainian companies in both commercial rolling stock (freight cars, semi-wagons, hopper grain cars) and passenger rolling stock.
