In Rome, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

One of the main topics of discussion was addressing Ukraine's defense needs, particularly enhancing air defense systems. Zelensky thanked the Italian government for approving the 10th military aid package. Strengthening Ukrainian forces on the battlefield and protecting towns and villages from Russian attacks are crucial steps toward achieving a just and lasting peace.

“Currently, we aim to accelerate certain aspects of this package. We have Franco-Italian air defense systems, SAMP/T. The number of missiles is very important for us, and we are relying on it. There is an initial package of missiles we are receiving, and another one that needs finalization to ensure delivery,” Zelensky stated.

The President also highlighted ongoing preparations for the international Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC-2025), set to take place in Rome on July 10–11.

“Our teams have begun working on this year's recovery conference. Especially regarding cultural heritage, we primarily count on Italy. We are also working with UNESCO and will continue coordinating with France. I want Italy to take a significant role in restoring our historical heritage. They are very skilled in this area,” Zelensky emphasized.

Zelensky and Meloni also focused on supporting Ukraine's path to European Union membership.
