President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President of Moldova Maia Sandu and President of Romania Nicușor Dan. It was their first meeting in a trilateral format, which enables the countries to deepen security, energy and economic cooperation.
In particular, Ukraine proposed appointing coordinators at the level of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs to maintain ongoing contacts within this format.
The main topics of discussion included regional security, countering hybrid threats and cybersecurity, energy security, cross-border cooperation, logistical connectivity, military and technical cooperation, and European integration.
Special attention was given to supporting Moldova, as the country’s security is crucial for the stability in the region.
They also discussed strengthening sanctions against Russia and joint actions intended to compel the aggressor state to accept a just peace.
The parties also addressed support for the shared European Union membership aspirations of Ukraine and Moldova. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine and Moldova are moving forward together on this path, and no one should be allowed to divide the countries in the negotiation process.
Another key focus was countering Russian hybrid threats and cyberattacks, which the Russian Federation has been particularly active in conducting in the Black Sea region.
Other important topics included infrastructure projects, specifically the construction of a highway connecting Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania, as well as the development of railway infrastructure.
