The Russian advanced S-400 air defense systems are not being used for strikes against Ukraine. These complexes are covering the airspace, as reported by the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuriy Ignat, during a telethon.

"The S-400 complexes are not aimed at regions; they are more of an exception — using them against ground targets. It's the modern S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system capable of destroying air targets at long distances. It would be wasteful for the Russians to use them against ground targets," said Ignat.

The spokesperson explained that the Russians forces primarily use the S-300 for strikes on Ukrainian territory because they have a larger quantity of these missiles. The S-400 poses a threat to Ukrainian aviation.

Russia deploy these complexes both in Crimea and other occupied territories of Ukraine.

"Russia uses them to cover the airspace. Perhaps, for intercepting cruise missiles, which we also use to strike," added Ignat.
