"A Russian missile targeted a shipment of wheat intended for Egypt. Today's strike in the Black Sea hit a regular civilian vessel shortly after it left Ukrainian territorial waters. Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties," wrote the President of Ukraine.

Ukraine is a key global donor for food security. The normal and unobstructed operation of an export food corridor is crucial for internal stability and the lives of people in many countries around the world.

"Our food supply to African countries and the Middle East region is critical. We will continue to do everything possible to protect our ports, our Black Sea, and global food supplies. This is a genuine priority for Ukraine—protecting lives—and it should be a priority for every country."

"We await the world's response. Wheat and food security should never be targets for missiles"
