French instructors conducted an underwater demining training session for Ukrainian rescuers, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) reported on Facebook.

In Cherkasy, First Deputy Head of the SES Vitalii Myroniuk, together with representatives of the French Embassy in Ukraine, summed up the results of the first stage of the EOD3+ underwater neutralization program. The course involved practical exercises on various methods of detecting, moving, and disposing of explosive objects in aquatic environments.

During the training, French instructors demonstrated two main techniques for neutralizing dangerous findings — electric and fire-based — providing detailed guidance on their safe and effective use. The project aims to strengthen Ukraine’s capacity for humanitarian demining, including the development of a national strategy, improved coordination, and the use of innovative technologies.

The programme is designed to train Ukrainian rescuers to work in hazardous underwater environments so that rivers, lakes, and ports can become safe for people again. French partners also provided essential underwater demining equipment and discussed prospects for further cooperation.

For their close collaboration, the French instructors received awards from the SES of Ukraine.
