Combat operations in the Kharkiv region remain intense, and Russian forces continue to use small infantry group tactics, attempting to infiltrate Ukrainian defenses unnoticed.

This was reported on air by Viktor Tregubov, head of communications for the Joint Forces Grouping.

“We currently have four hottest directions: Southern Slobozhanskyi, Velykoburlutskyi, Kupiansk, and Lyman. As along the entire contact line, the Russians usually use small infantry groups and try to infiltrate Ukrainian positions, bypassing certain strongpoints,” Tregubov said.

According to him, such tactics are forced due to the changing nature of the war and the widespread use of drones.

“Effectively, along the entire contact line, there is no actual line — there is a large 10–20 km ‘kill zone’ where Ukrainian and enemy drones are actively flying. If you want to conduct offensive operations, you must remain unnoticed. Armor or numbers no longer matter — stealth is what counts,” he explained.

Tregubov added that Russian units try to use the terrain to advance in small groups, but the effectiveness of this tactic remains questionable.
