The number of people killed in Ternopil as a result of the Russian attack, during which two nine-story residential buildings were destroyed, has risen to 10, with 37 injured, according to the National Police of Ukraine.
“The hardest hit is Ternopil. Critical: two nine-story residential buildings were damaged. One has a fire, the other has destruction from the 3rd to the 9th floor. As of 10:00: 10 dead; 37 injured (including 12 children).
Rescuers continue evacuating people from blocked apartments.
“There are also people under the rubble. We are working as carefully as possible—every minute can mean a life saved,” wrote Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko. “I have sent the head of the State Emergency Service, Andriy Danyk, there—I am keeping the progress of the rescue operations under constant control. I report to the state leadership,” he added.
Aviation, rapid response mobile centers, Delta units, canine teams, and heavy engineering equipment are involved in the work. Forces from neighboring regions are being deployed. Psychologists are also working on-site. Resilience Points have been set up, and mobile kitchens are providing people with hot meals.
Among the 37 people injured in Ternopil due to the Russian attack on residential high-rise buildings, 12 are children, reported Viktor Mykyta, Deputy Head of the Office of the President.
“In Ternopil, work continues to eliminate the consequences of the Russian attack on the city’s residential neighborhoods. Currently, 10 people are known to have been killed and 37 injured, including 12 children. The search is ongoing for those who may have survived the building collapses,” he wrote on his Telegram channel on Wednesday.
