The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and the Commissioner for Children's Affairs, Maria Lvova-Bielova, face an arrest warrant for the rest of their lives, International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor Karim Khan said.

"He will remain a presumptive criminal until he goes to trial or is brought to trial and acquitted. That seems extremely unlikely, so he will remain a presumptive criminal for the rest of his life," he told BBC Radio 4.

As reported, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, received the official status of a suspect in the commission of a war crime - the illegal deportation and relocation of Ukrainian children, and the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for his arrest. An arrest warrant was also issued for Maria Lvova-Belova, the Russian President's Commissioner for Children's Rights.
