Lviv raises tourist tax for foreigners, city council announces.
The changes will take effect from January 1, 2026. Previously, foreigners paid between 16 and 40 hryvnias depending on the hotel room price; now there will be a fixed rate of 80 hryvnias per night.
“This will allow the city to develop, invest in tourist infrastructure, promote Lviv, and create quality services,” the city council added.
For domestic tourism, the rates will not change and are percentage-based depending on the room price:
- up to 750 hryvnias – 0.3%, or 24 hryvnias;
- 750–1200 hryvnias – 0.4%, or 32 hryvnias;
- over 1200 hryvnias – 0.5%, or 40 hryvnias.
Representatives of the hotel business emphasized the importance of using at least part of the revenues from the tourist tax to invest in tourist infrastructure to develop the city as an attractive and comfortable destination for visitors.
“It is important for us that Lviv develops as a tourist city. We want both our fellow citizens and foreign tourists to come here, and that is why we have decided to allocate 10% of the tourist tax revenues for the development of tourist infrastructure,” the official stressed.
The new tourist tax rates, according to the adopted resolution, will come into effect on January 1, 2026. At the same time, certain categories of people are exempt from paying this tax. These include internally displaced persons, children under 18 years old, war veterans, people on business trips, and those coming for health recovery and rehabilitation under vouchers.
