President Maia Sandu voted in the parliamentary elections on September 28 and addressed citizens. She said that Moldova “is in danger” and stressed that the fate of the country must be decided by the people, not by bought votes, reports NewsMaker.
“I voted for a parliament with which we will be able to continue preserving peace, which will respect the Republic of Moldova and its citizens, for a parliament with which we will continue building a European Moldova. Dear citizens, I urge you all to come to the polls. Moldova, our dear home, is in danger, and it needs the help of each one of you. You can save it today with your vote. Tomorrow may be too late. The fate of our country must be decided by your vote, not by bought votes,” Sandu said.
The president again spoke of Russian interference in the elections.
“Both I and our state institutions have spoken about various methods, starting with attempts to buy votes, on which hundreds of millions of euros were spent. We spoke about preparing young people from Moldova to organize unrest. We all saw how Moldovans were recruited and trained to create and spread false information. All of this is so that Russia can take power in Chișinău under its control and use Moldova for its purposes. Moldovans must decide for themselves. The time has come to defend our country,” Sandu concluded.
