Together with the European Commission, Poland will organize a conference on children abducted from Ukraine and transported deep into Russia, where they are forcibly adopted. This was announced in Brussels by the Polish Minister for European Union Affairs, Szymon Szynkowski vel SÄk. He emphasized that the conference is one of the events that Poland intends to implement together with the European Commission.
"It can be such a good moment to, firstly, attract public opinion to the whole problem and gather expert opinion to coordinate various initiatives, but it cannot be just a meeting, an event or a conference. This should be a series of accompanying events," said Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel SÄk, adding that these events will not end in the coming months. "This should become a real support for Ukraine in prosecuting the perpetrators of these crimes, as well as in the search for the children themselves. And we are currently working on such tools," emphasized Shimon Shynkovskyi Vel Senk. He said that tomorrow he will talk about it with the head of the office of the President of the European Commission. The minister will also ask at what stage of preparation are sanctions against those guilty of abducting children from the occupied territories of Ukraine and illegally transporting them deep into Russia.
Poland has provided the European Commission with a list of more than 30 individuals and more than 30 institutions from Russia that should be subject to EU sanctions.
