Poland will transfer two MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine as part of a new military aid package worth approximately €50 million. In addition to the aircraft, Poland will also supply ammunition, Rzeczpospolita reports.

"In the near future. The decision has been made, and two MiG-29s will be transferred," said Dariusz Łukowski, Director of the Department of Strategy and Defence Planning at Poland's Ministry of Defence.

According to available information, one of the aircraft designated for transfer has already reached the end of its service life, while the second remains operational.

In addition to the fighter jets, Poland will provide Ukraine with a batch of 155 mm and 152 mm artillery ammunition, 20×102 mm rounds for the six-barrel cannons mounted on F-16 aircraft, which are used, among other things, to shoot down Russian drones, as well as missiles for Piorun short-range air defence systems.

"Poland is preparing another aid package for Ukraine. The extent of our support is determined by the security needs of the Polish state and the resources of the armed forces, as assessed by the Chief of the General Staff. As the Minister of Defence has announced, we are preparing assistance that includes equipment being withdrawn from service in the Polish Armed Forces because it is reaching the end of its operational life. In other words, equipment that is no longer used by the Polish military but may still be useful in Ukraine," the Polish Ministry of Defence said in response to the publication's enquiry.
