Pro-Russian parties in Moldova are preparing a large-scale protest scheduled for the upcoming weekend in Chișinău. This was announced by Igor Dodon, leader of the Socialist Party, according to NewsMaker.
According to him, supporters from the electoral bloc—which includes the Socialist Party (PSRM), the Communist Party (PCRM), the “Heart of Moldova” party led by Irina Vlah, and the “Future of Moldova” party headed by former Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev—will participate in the protest. Dodon said the participants plan to gather about 15,000 people to demonstrate their determination to fight for victory in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
“This weekend, we will hold a mass protest in Chișinău. Representatives of all four parties, which yesterday announced the consolidation of their efforts for the upcoming parliamentary elections, will take part. We plan to gather about 15,000 of our supporters and show that we are determined to win,” Dodon said.
On July 23, the PSRM and Irina Vlah’s party held protests in Chișinău.
Specifically, the PSRM protested at the Ministry of Agriculture, accusing the government of putting Moldovan farmers in a loss-making situation and that Moldovan stores mostly sell imported agricultural products.
The “Heart of Moldova” party, protesting near the government building, accused PAS and Energocom of “robbing the people through inflated energy tariffs.”
Government spokesperson Daniel Vodă called these protests pre-election actions by “pro-Russian parties” that follow instructions from abroad aimed at “stealing votes from uninformed citizens.”
On July 22, leaders of the Socialist Party, the Communist Party, the “Heart of Moldova” party, and the “Future of Moldova” party announced plans to unite in an electoral bloc for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The name of the electoral bloc and the names of the candidates have not yet been disclosed.
