The German company Quantum Systems has localized the production of fuselages for Vector drones at its facility in Ukraine.
Company representatives told Militarnyi about this at the European Defense Tech Hackathon held from May 22 to 25 in Lviv.
Previously, drone assembly already took place in Ukraine, and two enterprises are operational: an R&D center for drone development and a maintenance unit.
Back in February, the company announced plans to double drone production in Ukraine.
“We already have full production of 100% of all fuselage parts, which are manufactured here in Ukraine,” said Dmytro Horlin, Technology Director of Quantum Systems Ukraine. Answering a question about differences in localized parts, he clarified that they fully match the size and manufacturing technology, but Ukrainian expertise has improved some parameters.
“In a positive way, this concerns material strength — in Ukraine, we achieved better results, and the parts are lighter,” he added.
This means the weight of the drone manufactured in Ukraine was reduced by almost 250 grams.
“This increase in capability allows adding something else within those 250 grams,” a Quantum Systems representative said.
The company is already testing new payloads such as acoustic sensors and AI, with a more powerful processor for data processing. The camera will be able to rotate 360 degrees and will include other new features. Visual navigation has been added for both day and night.
Ukraine currently operates the largest fleet of Vector drones from Quantum Systems, and their use in real combat conditions with ongoing improvements encourages more countries to order them for themselves.
