The Defense Forces are making logistics extremely difficult for Russian troops on the western bank of the Oskil River, preventing them from creating a real threat to Kupiansk.
This was reported by Pavlo Shamshyn, spokesperson for the Kharkiv operational-tactical group, during a TV broadcast.

The situation near the village of Dvorichna remains tense, as the Russian army is trying to hold and expand its foothold in order to threaten the city of Kupiansk from the north along the right bank of the river.

“Active assault operations have been ongoing for a long time, but for the Russians to pose a real threat to Kupiansk, they need to establish pontoon crossings. Despite numerous attempts, they have failed, as we destroy their specialized equipment either as it approaches the shore or during the deployment of the pontoons. Therefore, logistics to the western bank of the Oskil is extremely difficult for the Russians, which prevents them from posing a real threat to Kupiansk,” he emphasized.

Shamshyn noted that Russian forces continue to press in the Vovchansk area, where they launch assault operations almost daily.

“The Russian forces continues to exert pressure around Vovchansk. Assault actions are taking place nearly every day, both in Vovchansk itself and in the nearby settlements,” the spokesperson said.

According to him, Russian troops are mainly attacking in small infantry groups of 3 to 10 soldiers, using motorcycles and quad bikes to move quickly between positions and avoid detection by Ukrainian drones. However, the loud noise of motorcycle engines works against them, as it makes it harder to hear approaching Ukrainian UAVs.

“The city of Vovchansk is being wiped off the map. There’s virtually nothing left. It has been destroyed down to its foundations. Russian forces continue shelling it with artillery of various calibers, multiple rocket launchers, heavy flamethrower systems, and, of course, Russian drones are very active there,” Shamshyn reported.

At the same time, the situation in the village of Lyptsi “remains fully under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, with no Russian presence.”

Shamshyn recalled that a few weeks ago, Russian forces attempted an attack north of Lyptsi, but their movements were detected in advance by Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance.

“We struck the enemy with all available means. The Russians failed to achieve any of their objectives, suffered heavy losses, and were forced to retreat,” he added.
