In Chernihiv region, a Russian missile strike on the Kyselivka community has killed two and injured five civilians, all of whom were employees of the Danish Refugee Council’s demining humanitarian mission, according to Viacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration.

“Currently, there are 2 dead and 5 wounded as a result of a Russian missile strike on the Kyselivka community. They were employees of the Danish Refugee Council’s demining humanitarian mission,” Chaus wrote on Facebook. He added that the injured are receiving medical care and all necessary assistance, and that law enforcement is working at the strike site.

The attack, which took place on the afternoon of September 4, deliberately targeted the Danish humanitarian demining mission operating near Chernihiv.

The European Union strongly condemned the strike. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, wrote on X:

“The death of Danish aid workers in a missile strike underscores the brutality of Russia’s war in Ukraine. Attacks on humanitarian missions are a grave violation of international law. The EU remains steadfast in supporting Ukraine and will hold those responsible accountable.”

EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, also responded on X, calling the Russian strike “another brutal attack by Russia on civilian targets in Ukraine.

She emphasized, “It is a deliberate attack on peace and recovery. The EU stands with Ukraine: for safety, dignity & a European future.”

Lithuania joined the condemnation, delivering a note of protest to Russia over the ongoing attacks. The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote on X:

“Today Lithuania delivered a protest note to Russia over its continued brutal bombings of Ukraine. Every day, Moscow continues its path of cruelty, bloodshed and terror, showing no interest in peace. Lithuania will continue to #StandwithUkraine.”
