The invaders committed the biggest number of sexual crimes on the territory of Kyiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk and Chernihiv regions.
43 criminal proceedings have been opened regarding sexual crimes of the invaders against the civilian population.
This was announced by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Kateryna Pavlichenko during the 83rd meeting of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women online.
"Today, the activities of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are aimed at documenting all war crimes committed by the Russian Federation. Among them, there are sexual crimes against the civilian population. 43 criminal proceedings have already been opened; among them are those with repeated episodes or several victims" , she said.
According to her, the invaders committed the biggest number of sexual crimes on Kyiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Lugansk and Chernihiv regions.
Pavlichenko said that specialized mobile police groups were created in the National Police to identify only cases of sexual violence in the de-occupied territories, and thanks to their work, it was possible to collect a lot of evidence and testimonies about such crimes.
She noted that this is not yet the final list, and investigations are ongoing.
"Such investigations have their specifics, which is since often people do not want to talk about such crimes," she added.
Therefore, information brochures have been prepared that the police give to the civilian population in the de-occupied territories, which could potentially suffer from the sexual crimes of the Russian occupiers, which tells how to report, where to report, and how to communicate with the victim.
