Russian forces are attempting to cross the Dnipro channels, but Ukraine’s Defense Forces are maintaining control over the entire island system in the Kherson region.
This was reported on television by the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn.
"The enemy is trying to cross the Dnipro channels, as they are unable to access the open waters of the Dnipro River. Ukraine’s Defense Forces control the island system — nearly all the islands in the area. The enemy is attempting to force a crossing and seize a foothold, particularly in the southern area where islands like Nestyha, Kozulyskyi, Buhas, and Zabych are located. The enemy is also trying to storm our positions near the Antonivskyi bridges, as this is the narrowest part of the Dnipro — just about 1,000 to 1,200 meters wide. They aim to take control of the left bank of the bridge in order to facilitate crossings to the right bank. However, we are keeping the entire area under control and destroying the enemy at the very start of their attempts to cross the Dnipro," Voloshyn emphasized.
He noted that the Russin forces uses various watercraft for crossings, ranging from boats and motorboats to even jet skis.
"We’ve recorded cases where the enemy tries to transport personnel or logistical cargo using such jet skis — but we destroy and sink them," the spokesperson said.
According to Voloshyn, Russian troops are using a large number of drones of various types in the southern direction — strike drones, FPV drones, and loitering munitions.
"The enemy frequently uses fiber-optic-guided FPV drones, so the range of drones is quite diverse. In fact, they use around 400–500 FPV drones per day to carry out strikes. In addition, they deploy about 150–200 drop drones and a similar number of reconnaissance drones. Over the past day alone, a large number of enemy 'Shahed' drones were used in our sector — 72 strikes were recorded. So this is likely one of the most drone-threatened directions," Voloshyn stated.
