The film "Photophobia," nominated for an Oscar, was acquired by the company Filmotor

The film "Photophobia," a collaborative production involving Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine, which was Slovakia's candidate for the Oscar Awards, has been acquired by the Prague-based agency Filmotor. This information is reported by Variety.

The film was directed by Slovak directors Ivan Ostrochovsky and Pavol Pekarčík. "Photophobia" is a joint production of Punkchart Films and Cinémotif Films, with the participation of Slovak Radio and Television, Arthouse Traffic, Czech Television, and Partizanfilm, supported by the Slovak Audiovisual Fund, Czech Film Fund, and the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic.

Michaëla Chaike, the CEO of Filmotor, expressed her enthusiasm for welcoming this expressive Slovak film into her company.

She stated, "The film offers us a unique perspective on the war in Ukraine. The film uniquely portrays events from the Kharkiv Metro, all because of a love story, friendship in the most challenging human conditions of war. 'Photophobia' is absolutely unique in blurring the lines between documentary and fiction. I firmly believe that thanks to the Venice award, we will be able to ensure the most productive distribution of the film at festivals and in cinemas worldwide."

The announcement emphasizes that Filmotor acquired the film to showcase it to a global audience.
