The political leadership of Russia aims to send a significant portion of Wagner Private Military Company mercenaries to Africa by mid-September 2023. This information has been reported by the Center for National Resistance.

According to Russia's plan, Wagner Group members will leave Belarus and relocate to Niger, Libya, Sudan, Mali, the Central African Republic, and Mozambique. In all these countries, the Kremlin has its colonial and geopolitical interests and supports either regimes or insurgents.

Subsequently, a smaller group of mercenaries will remain to provide instructions to the special units of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs in order to counter any potential uprising against Lukashenko. Another segment of the group might sign contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense to participate in a war against Ukraine.

After the revolt led by the head of the Wagner Private Military Company, Yevgeny Prigozhin, which took place in late June, the Kremlin announced the relocation of mercenaries to Belarus.

Afterward, on August 25th, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, stated that Wagner Private Military Company mercenaries would continue to be stationed within the country's territory, despite the potential demise of Prigozhin.

On August 29th, it became known that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus had been issuing passports with altered surnames to Wagner Group members for the past month. This action might be linked to the preparation of subversive activities, including acts of terrorism
