The Russian State Duma amended the life sentence for treason
Amendments have been submitted for consideration by the lower house of the Russian parliament, introducing a life sentence for high treason, Vasily Piskarev, head of the State Duma Committee on Security, said on a telegram channel.
It is also proposed to "substantially increase the lower and upper limits of liability" for a number of crimes. In particular, under the article “Terrorist attack” to increase the maximum sentence from 15 to 20 years, under the article “Assistance to terrorist activities”, the minimum threshold for recruiting or engaging in terrorist crimes to be raised to seven years (now five years), and the minimum punishment for complicity - up to 12 years (now 10 years). Under the article "Organization of a terrorist community and participation in it" to establish a punishment of 10 to 15 years in prison (now from 5 to 10 years), under the article "Sabotage" - up to 20 years (now 15 years), and under the article "Act of International terrorism" - from 12 years (now from 10 years).
