The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has detained in Kyiv an agent of 'Senezh,' a special operations center of Russia’s military intelligence agency (better known as the GRU).
According to the case materials, the agent was directing Russia’s missile and drone attacks on the Kyiv region.
The investigation revealed that the agent was a 44-year-old Kyiv resident. He came to the attention of Russian GRU officers during a chat-roulette livestream, where he expressed pro-Russian views.
After being recruited, the suspect began monitoring the locations of local businesses he believed could be involved in producing military equipment for Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
To gather information, he casually questioned acquaintances under the guise of everyday conversations, and then visited potential targets to conduct reconnaissance.
At the same time, the traitor was tracking the movement routes and combat positions of mobile fire teams during air raids.
The information he collected was intended to help the Russian forces plan attacks on the Kyiv region while bypassing Ukrainian air defenses.
The SSU documented every step of his espionage activities and took comprehensive measures to protect Ukrainian facilities.
At the final stage of the special operation, SSU officers detained the suspect at his residence. During a search, they discovered two mobile phones containing agent “reports” — including photos of Ukrainian sites with GPS coordinates linked to Google Maps.
The SSU has officially charged him under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
The man is currently in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
