The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another member of an FSB agent network in Kyiv region, previously exposed earlier this year. The suspects had been adjusting Russian missile and drone strikes on the Ukrainian capital.

The first member of the group was detained in May — he had been tracking the locations of Ukraine’s Defence Forces to assist Russian attacks. Based on SSU evidence, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison with property confiscation.

The newly detained agent turned out to be a 49-year-old employee of a local car service station who had been recruited by the FSB. He came to the attention of Russian intelligence while searching for “easy money” in Telegram channels.

Following instructions from the Russian handlers, the man collected information about the technical condition of energy facilities in the Kyiv region and sent the data, including coordinates, to his curator.

Among his priority “targets” were power substations supplying electricity to much of Kyiv. He also monitored reserve deployment points of Ukrainian defenders in and around the city.

SSU operatives documented the agent’s criminal activity and detained him, seizing a phone containing evidence of his collaboration with Russia.

Investigators have charged the suspect under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law).

He remains in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
