Three more plants in Ukraine are preparing to start biomethane production

This was announced by Georgiy Geletukha, Head of the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine, during the conference “Green Energy for Reconstruction”.

“Four plants are already operating and have begun exporting biomethane to Europe, while three more are finishing the conversion of equipment from biogas production to biomethane and will start production soon,” Geletukha said.

According to him, Europe is currently experiencing so-called “growing pains” in the biomethane market, but overall the market is undersupplied and participants are eager to purchase Ukrainian biomethane.

It was reported that on February 6, the Energy Customs of the State Customs Service processed the first customs declaration for biomethane export.

In autumn 2024, the VITAGRO group of companies and the Khmelnytskyi gas distribution operator began supplying biomethane to Ukraine’s gas transmission system. The source of biomethane production is livestock and crop waste.
