To mark the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence, SLUH media and the Czech brand Becherovka conducted an independent vote to identify the 30 most iconic Ukrainian songs since 1991.
Voting lasted for 2 weeks, during which Ukrainian men and women voted more than 6,000 times for their favorite musical compositions. As a result, they compiled a list of the TOP-30 iconic songs of Independent Ukraine.
To avoid subjective evaluations, voting was conducted by free choice - without nominations. Therefore, those wishing to vote could independently indicate any song that they considered important for Ukrainian culture.
The TOP-30 includes four songs by Scriabin and Okean Elzy, two each by Tina Karol, Tyn Sontsia and MELOVIN. The first folk playlist did not include any Russian-language songs, and only one track out of 30 was performed not in Ukrainian. This composition was "1944" by singer Jamala, with whom she won the second victory for Ukraine at Eurovision. The track is performed in English and Crimean Tatar.
