According to the 2024 report on agricultural trade in the EU, Ukraine increased its agricultural exports to the EU by 11%.
"The EU continued to import agricultural food products from various trading partners, with the main sources being Brazil, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine. Imports grew from Côte d'Ivoire, Ukraine, and Nigeria, while they decreased from Russia and Australia," the report states.
Ukraine was the third-largest source of agricultural imports to the EU in 2024 (8% of the total EU import value). Agricultural imports from Ukraine to the EU grew by 11% compared to 2023 (+1.3 billion euros), reaching 13 billion euros.
This increase was due to a rise in the share of two key products: vegetable oils (3 billion euros in 2024, +946 million euros compared to 2023) and oilseeds and protein crops (3.1 billion euros, +709 million euros).
The export of Ukrainian cereals to the EU decreased by 12% in value (to 4.5 billion euros) due to falling prices, but the volume of exports increased by 6% compared to the previous year.
Meanwhile, the total volume of European agricultural imports in 2024 reached a record high of 171.8 billion euros (+8% compared to 2023, or +12.4 billion euros).
