The Ukrainian tourniquet manufacturer SICH Ukraine will supply the Sich-AAJT-S, designed to stop bleeding from gunshot wounds to the abdomen. The abdominal tourniquet Sich-AAJT-S works by compressing the abdominal cavity to reduce blood loss. A specialized cuff then applies pressure to the abdominal aorta to halt the bleeding. It can also function as a junctional tourniquet.
When Sich-AAJT-S is effective:
- During bleeding in the groin, pelvic, or axillary areas;
- For stabilizing pelvic fractures;
- In cases of injuries with high limb amputations.
The abdominal tourniquet is primarily intended for combat medics, emergency responders, and rescue services. Each company should ideally be equipped with at least three of these tourniquets, ensuring one per platoon.
The Sich-AAJT-S was developed by the American company Compression Works. According to "SICH Ukraine," this tourniquet is already used by NATO armies and was previously only available for order abroad.
