LION group (Forst terminal), Nunit (Mostyska terminal), and GOL announce collaboration and launch a new joint service.

The companies announced the partnership in a joint statement.

The project revives a route that operated during 2023–2024, using the experience gained to develop a modern and forward-looking initiative with a fresh strategic vision.

The expected launch date is July 1, 2025, aiming to prepare for the busy fall season. The partners plan to ramp up operations, attract regular clients, and start running the service twice a week, which will increase cargo volumes.

This will be a regular service operated by experienced companies at the operational level. Previously, between 2023 and 2024, this type of service gained popularity as an alternative to blocked road transport at borders. The new strategic approach offers an alternative to European market players like LKW WALTER, who combine multi-modal freight transport using trains, trucks, and ships.

The project model is based on a continuous logistics cycle using three sets of trailers, totaling 100 units: one set in transit, one being loaded, and one being unloaded.

“This approach ensures a steady transportation rhythm without delays or downtime. By the end of June, the plan is to fully equip the rolling stock on both routes to enable the full commercial operation of the service starting in July,” the companies said.

For the trial period, one set of platforms for trailers/containers (5 and 10 units respectively) along with about 60 detachable bodies and 24 trailers will be leased. Daily runs between Forst and Mostyska will be provided, covering first and last mile services from both ends.

The participants will determine a trial promotional period of about three months, during which the train will operate and be loaded without additional surcharges. An important benefit is the short transit time, approximately 20 hours one way including border crossing.

“So very soon, logistics service users will gain an additional option for high-quality cargo transportation without the risk of missed deadlines,” the companies’ statement concluded.
