The destruction of Ukraine's agricultural infrastructure by the Russian army is causing the loss of grain and other food supplies.

This was stated by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Vitalii Koval, during a panel discussion at the Green Week exhibition in Berlin, High Level Panel FAO, according to the ministry's press service.

"The task of Ukraine's Ministry of Agrarian Policy is to attract investments in the construction of vegetable storage facilities and the supply of refrigeration equipment for storing berries and vegetables. Due to the destruction of vegetable storage facilities and elevators by the Russian forces, approximately 35% of food is spoiled and does not reach the consumer. This leads to food inflation, which primarily affects those segments of the population who are on the brink of poverty," emphasized the Minister.

Vitalii Koval thanked the FAO for its assistance in supplying grain storage bags in frontline areas. This is a significant contribution to food security. According to him, maintaining food independence is a crucial task for every country, especially for Ukraine, which today defends free Europe from the aggressor while feeding nearly 400 million people worldwide.
