The European Union, under the Ukraine Investment Facility (UIF) programme, which is part of the Ukraine Facility plan, will provide €100 million to the National Energy Company Ukrenergo for the reconstruction of the electricity transmission system.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported this.

It is noted that the relevant agreements were signed by the Chairman of the Board of Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytsky and the Head of the KfW Office in Ukraine Lorenz Hessner, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andriyak and the Energy Projects Coordinator at the EU Delegation to Ukraine, Ulyana Rudnitska. The funds will support the project "Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of Ukraine's Electricity Transmission Infrastructure II."

"Reconstruction, restoration, and expansion of the energy infrastructure are extremely important for the recovery and economic development of Ukraine. By increasing energy efficiency and integrating the Ukrainian energy system into the broader European network, electricity supply will be stabilized. At the same time, this will improve conditions for economic activity and daily life for Ukrainians across the country," said Lorenz Hessner.

The project includes the reconstruction, repair, rehabilitation, and replacement of destroyed and/or damaged parts of Ukraine's electricity transmission infrastructure, equipment, construction of new substations and transmission lines using modern and energy-efficient technologies, as well as measures for the physical protection of elements of the power infrastructure.

The Ministry of Energy also noted that the signed agreement is one of the first agreements under the UIF programme and represents a significant step towards the reconstruction of Ukraine's electricity transmission system.
