Italian businesses are exploring sectors for investment in Ukraine without waiting for the end of the war. Italian investors are particularly interested in the investment climate and opportunities in Ukraine.

This was discussed during a working meeting between the UkraineInvest team and the newly appointed Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa.

Acting Executive Director of UkraineInvest, Oleksandr Melnychenco, presented to the Italian side:

  • Ukrainian investment legislation and practice;
  • The role and place of the UkraineInvest government office in investment law enforcement;
  • Investment incentives created by Ukraine for significant investors;
  • Conditions and means of support for significant investors in preparing and implementing investment projects.

“Ukraine's investment legislation demonstrates its effectiveness. Through this mechanism, investors have the opportunity to realize a significant project at reduced costs, essentially receiving a 'discount' of up to 30% for project implementation in Ukraine. This will provide a substantial competitive advantage to interested Italian investors over other market players,” emphasized Oleksandr Melnychenco.

The parties agreed on the Italian Embassy's mediation to establish cooperation between UkraineInvest and Italian businesses and discussed several initiatives for further collaboration, including:

  • Forming an investment request with feedback from Italian businessmen on priority economic sectors;
  • Providing comprehensive analytical information to the Italian side regarding Ukraine's investment opportunities;
  • Organizing briefings by UkraineInvest for Italian investors to explain Ukrainian investment legislation and practice;
  • Creating a joint working group to continuously develop investment relations between Ukraine and Italy, exchange analytical information about the investment climate, promising sectors, and potential investment barriers;
  • Organizing a joint business forum to present Ukraine's investment opportunities to Italian businesses;
  • Placing UkraineInvest's investment zone within the Embassy to promote the investment climate among Italian businesses.

“We are ready to cooperate with UkraineInvest in attracting and promoting significant Italian investments in Ukraine's economy,” said Carlo Formosa, the Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine.
