On September 10, in London, took place the 30th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) in the "Ramstein format". Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal described the initiatives that are crucial for effectively countering Russian aggression, which continues to escalate.

Smihal claimed that it is vital for Ukraine to actively implement the following actions:

  • PURL — it is essential to establish a clear schedule for regular funding and delivery of arms packages.
  • USD 6 billion for drone production: interceptor drones to defend Ukraine's economy and civilians; FPV drones to hold the frontline; Strike drones to maintain pressure on Russian military production and assets.
  • To allocate USD 60 billion in partner countries’ budgets for 2026 to strengthen the defense of Europe and Ukraine.
  • Ten additional Patriot systems, plus missiles for Patriot, SAMP/T, NASAMS, IRIS-T, and HAWK systems.
  • Sanctions and confiscation of frozen Russian assets. Economic pressure should be intensified to leave russia with fewer resources for waging war.

"This is a critical concern, as Russia intends to carry out new strikes against our energy sector and infrastructure. We are grateful to Germany for procuring two Patriot PAC-3 interceptor missile surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems.”

Emphasized Denys Shmyhal.

After the meeting Denys Shmyhal and the German Federal Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius met to discuss how to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities.

The Minister of Defence of Ukraine thanked Germany for co-organising the Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting and for its substantial contribution to support Ukraine.

“Particularly significant is the ‘deep strike’ initiative, valued at EUR 300 million, which Germany is providing for the procurement of long-range drones for Ukraine.”

Added Shmyhal.
