Ukraine has been invited to associate membership in CIOR (The Confederation of Interallied Reserve Officers), one of the largest global organizations uniting NATO reserve officers and affiliated with the Alliance.

The corresponding proposal was made during a meeting between Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Defense, Brigadier General of Justice Serhiy Melnyk, and the representative responsible for interactions with Ukraine's Ministry of Defense on behalf of the CIOR President, Toomas Luman.

Mr. Luman invited the Ukrainian side to attend the organization’s winter summit and proposed that Ukraine consider the issue of associate membership in CIOR.

The parties also discussed the involvement of NATO reserve officers in the training of Ukrainian military personnel in demining and the repair of Western military equipment.

CIOR is also ready to involve Ukrainian officers in training courses organized by the organization’s language academy. This will provide Ukrainian service members the opportunity to improve their qualifications in line with NATO standards.

“It is a great honor for us to welcome you to Ukraine. We thank you for the proposal to train Ukrainian officers, who will have the opportunity to enhance their qualifications according to NATO requirements. Such joint projects should have a successful final outcome,” emphasized Serhiy Melnyk.

Note: CIOR is a non-political and non-commercial organization affiliated with NATO, which unites national reserve associations from NATO member countries. The organization was founded in 1948 and represents the interests of 1.3 million reservists in 27 NATO member countries and beyond.
