During his working visit to the Volyn region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a coordination meeting on the security situation and state border protection, which was attended by representatives of the Military Command, the State Border Guard Service, and the Heads of Military Administrations of Volyn, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Kyiv, and Chernihiv regions.
Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Serhii Deineko reported on border protection, in particular on the number of warriors involved, their capabilities and weapons.
Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration Vyacheslav Chaus, Head of Kyiv Regional Military Administration Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration Vitaliy Bunechko, Head of Rivne Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Koval, Head of Volyn Regional Military Administration Yuriy Pohulyaiko and Head of the State Special Transport Service Administration Oleksandr Yakovets reported on the progress of fortifications construction along the border with Belarus.
The President inspected the works in one of the strongholds in the Volyn region. Zelensky examined the arrangement of trenches, firing positions and dugouts.
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, anti-tank ditches, barrier fences and platoon strongholds with firing positions have been built here. In the areas of possible movement of the occupiers' armored vehicles, reinforced concrete installations and defensive structures were arranged to protect the personnel.
“We have strong protection both in terms of personnel and defensive lines. We have also increased the number of border guards in all regions bordering Russia and Belarus. And we continue to strengthen it,” the Head of State emphasized.
