Satellite images have revealed significant damage to the Primorsko-Akhtarsk airfield in Russia, a key launch site for Russian long-range drones, after recent Ukrainian attacks.
The Ukrainian geointelligence project Cyberboroshno reported that the drone strike on the night of August 1-2 damaged three buildings used for storing Shahed-type UAVs within the airfield’s drone port.
Analysis of the images also showed high activity of cargo vehicles and drones near the damaged buildings. Crucially, the complex responsible for storing and preparing aviation strike equipment sustained critical damage.
Fires and unusual movements were observed in various parts of the airfield, including near one of the UAV launch sites.
Primorsko-Akhtarsk serves as a base for Russian tactical aviation, but with increased use of strike drones, a dedicated “drone port” was established near the main base. This area includes three small zones exclusively for drone storage, pre-flight preparation, and launches.
These developments underline Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to target Russian drone operations and disrupt their capabilities at the source.
