The SBI prevented sabotage at the Kurakhove Power Station and seized a cache of explosives
During a special operation, employees prevented sabotage at the Kurakhove PS, which was prepared by an ex-law enforcement officer from the Donetsk region and his accomplice.
It was established that after the occupation of a part of the Donetsk region by the occupiers, an official of one of the region’s law enforcement agencies started working for the enemy.
Supporting the idea of a “Russian peace”, the suspect planned to use explosives to damage the Kurakhove Power Station. He hid explosive devices, ammunition and means of initiating the explosion in advance in a specially equipped cache not far from the Power Station, but in the Ukraine-controlled territory. And his accomplice, with whom he actively discussed sabotage plans, including through social messengers, was supposed to carry out the explosion at the “object”.
Employees of the SBI established the fact of the preparation of sabotage within the framework of the investigation into the treason proceedings of the former law enforcement officer, who conducted filtering measures at one of the checkpoints in the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk region. While working for the occupiers, he checked cars and looked for people among the drivers and passengers who belonged to the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine or military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and cooperated with the state authorities of Ukraine.
The State Bureau of Investigation employees exposed his intentions regarding sabotage, established the location of the cache, and prevented a terrorist attack.
Currently, the SBI employees are looking for the suspect’s accomplice. The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office carries out procedural management.
