The State Bureau of Investigations detained a Lviv region official for bribery of UAH 100,000 from a volunteer
The State Bureau of Investigation continues to implement a set of measures to identify unscrupulous officials trying to “earn” on transactions, even in martial law.
Thus, in the Lviv region, State Bureau of Investigations officers detained the first deputy mayor of one of the city councils. The official demanded UAH 100,000 from the volunteer for the transfer of a Volvo bus to the military. The city council previously received this vehicle as humanitarian aid from Finland.
The official’s accomplice received the bribe. Immediately after the transfer of funds, the official was detained.
In the near future, he will be informed about the suspicion of receiving illegal benefits and misuse of humanitarian aid during the war (Part 3 of Article 368, Part 3 of Article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanctions of the articles include imprisonment for up to 10 years.
Priority investigative (search) actions are underway; illegal benefits have been removed.
The Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office provides procedural guidance.
